A Presence Walkabout Dedicated to Exploring the Frontiers of Collective Consciousness

July 13-20, 2008 in New Mexico

It’s a sunny day here in New Mexico.  We are in between snow storms.   In a few months it will be Spring and the Earth will once again invite leaves and flowers and critters to emerge.  As for me, I find myself called this year to invite a select group of people to a specially designed Presence Walkabout in July.

The Intention and Invitation for July.

The Presence Walkabout this July will be intentionally focused on exploring the frontiers of collective consciousness and the ways in which our relationship with the Land invites and facilitates this experience.  Does this have resonance for you?  The Land offers different ways of knowing. Would you playfully engage these ways and how they inform us not only as individuals but also as a collective? Would you come discover what becomes available when a group enters the Silence together?  Would you be willing to expand the scope of the call to “Know Thyself” beyond your inner journey and ask “what it means to “Know Ourselves” as a collective”?

Today, as I invite you to join me in taking the weave deeper and further, I feel fully alive and grounded.  I hope you will come add your presence, your intention and attention to this experience, stepping up to and beyond the frontiers of our knowing to “go where we have not gone before”.  I believe this is a frontier as great as or greater than outer space – the inner space of humankind.  I believe we have the opportunity to develop our capacity for intentional and conscious participation in the collective evolution of our species.

This exploration is the essence of the inquiry and the invitation. I don’t claim to have the answers.  This is truly about “loving the questions themselves” and creating an opening to “live into them” as expressed in the Rilke poem.

So, it will come as no surprise that this invitation does NOT contain a long list of what I know you will receive from the experience.  Rather, it is an invitation to explore walking in the unknown with a powerful circle of fellow journeyers.  And, I am confident that there will be learnings and insights for each and all of us that will inform and enrich our personal and professional lives and work. How could there not be?

I also firmly believe that we will make a contribution of value to our world by focusing attention on expanding our capacity for conscious collective knowing at a time when so many forms seem to foster separation and violence.  I am remembering Albert Einstein’s now famous words…“The problem cannot be solved [by thinking] at the same level at which it was created”.   I see this as an opportunity to explore how we shift our collective attention in ways that allow us to perceive and engage from another level of consciousness.  I believe this capacity is crucial and growing more so every day in our world.

Most of you know me or know of me and know I’ve spent a lot of years working with collectives, and more recently with the Land as a full partner in facilitating deep listening and discernment.  The Presence Walkabouts have emerged as a blending and evolution of my experience with dialogue, an eclectic array of personal, professional, and spiritual development practices and my relationship with the Land.

Our time together:

We will visit a number of beautiful and powerful natural landscapes in New Mexico.  Our days will incorporate time alone and together, time to discover and move with individual and collective rhythms, time to engage our exploration in verbal and non-verbal ways.  We will share practices to deepen our listening and discernment.  One thing I do know - you will leave feeling renewed and grounded and inspired.

When we gather in New Mexico in July our first day or so will be a time of connecting with the Land and discerning a central theme for our inquiry, which we will use to focus our intention and attention and dive deeply into our collective exploration throughout the week.  There will also be some preparation in the weeks approaching our gathering.  These practices and perhaps a collective journal and/or a conference call will hone our capacity for attention and begin to weave the container for our work/play.

Logistical Details:

Thank you so much for reading, listening and considering this invitation.  If you will come play, work and explore with me and others and the Land of New Mexico here are a few details.  We convene July 13th at 6:00pm with a barbeque in Ojo Caliente, NM.  We close the circle on July 20th at 12noon.  The financial investment is $950 for the week which includes some meals, a trip to the Ojo Caliente Hot Springs and a rafting trip on the Rio Grand.  Each person is responsible for travel and transportation while in New Mexico, lodging and most meals.  Some lunches will be provided.  There are many places to stay in the surrounds.  My partner, Dave, and I will also make a number of camping spaces available on the land for those who are interested.

If you’d like to read more about the walkabouts in general, how they came to be and what some folks have experienced you can click on the link below.  Every walkabout is a profound experience.  As you now know, the one in July carries a special intention of calling together people who are willing and wanting to explore the dance between the Land, individual presence and the intentional exploration of collective presence and consciousness.

Also, if you know of anyone in your circles who you believe would be a great addition to this “expedition group” please invite them.  I trust your knowing.

With many blessings and no small amount of anticipation,
